Dejavu

This weekend Southeastern announced that classes are canceled Monday through Wednesday next week because of the impending hurricane Ivan. Phil and Rachel came home again bringing Naveen and Ian instead Ian, Steve and Erica.

The Deacon called me on Friday night and told me that "He wants me to be pastor, he needs me to be pastor and he has talked to some folks and he wants to see what we can do to get me called as pastor there" (whatever that means). So I guess I am the pastor now. Sort of.

Church wasn't the powerful prayer meeting that we had last week but I actually felt good about the sermon so I'm happy. I preached from the parable of the man who through the great supper in Luke 14:16-24. I have really agonized the last few weeks about what direction my ministry should take there, whether I should be looking for God to take over and lead us in to his presence every service or whether I should preach and teach.

It may seem simple to you but I finally remembered this morning that I could take them into the presence of God with my preaching. It doesn't have to be one or the other. It can be both.
